Teri Pettit

Teri has experience in both traditional and charter school education. She has served as a special education director, director of educational services, special education consultant for the Michigan Association of Public School Academies (MAPSA) and the National Center for Special Education in Charter Schools (NCSECS), teacher consultant, 504 coordinator, elementary school principal and teacher, in both regular and special education (K-12). She is currently in her third term and is serving as the chair for Michigan’s Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC).
Teri has extensive experience in creating programming to prevent learning failure for all students, curriculum development, school improvement, and compliance. She additionally worked for the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education as a PSA consultant/liaison, working closely with a variety of state and national organizations to ensure the delivery of quality programming.
Her degrees include an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Administration and Special Education Administration, a Master’s (MA) degree in special education and learning disabilities, and a Bachelor’s (BS) degree in visual impairment and English.
